About & Contact
Welcome to Avoiding Panic Attacks, my blog.
I’m a journalist-in-training at the Cardiff Journalism School, where I’m learning the tradecraft of reporting for newspapers whilst persuing my interests in current affairs and technology.
This is the second version of APA. I started blogging in 2005, starting off with Blogger before moving to WordPress. I’m not sure why, but WP seems to suit me more. Much of what was on there has been (or is in the process of) being transferred here, but if you’re interested you can still visit my old blog.
I hope to use this space as an online CV to document and show off my achievements to date. After almost losing my portfolio at Temple Meads train station, I decided that the hard-won record of my experience deserves a back-up. Besides, as the reporter’s work is moving further into the multi-media sphere, I imagine this online medium could be more suitable than a collection of fading clippings. I’ll post audio, video and photographs here, alongside text.
If you’d like to contact me feel free to send me an email. Alternatively, if you’re one of those who has abandoned the traditional inbox in favour of social networking, you can visit my facebook profile or my youtube channel. Comments are most welcome anywhere on this site.
On top of the shameless self-promotion I’ll also be posting morsels collected during my daily forays into the megaweb. Some of my favourite websites and blogs are collected in my blogroll in the right-hand column.
Thanks for visiting,
Tom.

Hey Tom, can you drop me a line on 01179 343 238. Think the disposable camera experiment could make a nice piece for the paper! Cheers, Laura.
