Me being a penis at the Cerne Abbas Giant

September 18, 2008

Ordinarily this is highly illegal, but I had a good excuse.

I’m not sure why my resultant article isn’t on the Western Gazette’s brand spankin’ new website.

If all goes to plan I’ll  recieve my N95 8gb within a few days and I plan on bombarding newsdesk with top-quality video straight away. Hopefully I’ll have something mobile-journalism shaped (as opposed to dingledongle shaped) to show off soon.

The Internet can be very power and even do something big

September 9, 2008

More mental email.

On Wendesday, September 17, 2008, I invite people around the world to turn off their lights for ten minutes – from 9:50pm to 10:00pm in their local time zone..

Ingles:
Darkness world: On September 17, 2008 from 21:50 to 22:00 hours.
Proposes to delete all lights and if possible all electrical appliances, to our planet can ‘breathe’.
if the answer is massive, energy saving can be brutal.

Only 10 minutes, and see what happens.
Yes, we are 10 minutes in the dark, we light a candle and simply
Be looking at it, we breathe and our planet.
Remember that the union is strength and the Internet can be very power and can
Even do something big.

Moves the news, if you have friends to live in other countries send to them.

What an important – and entertaining – movie that will be

September 5, 2008

It appears I jumped the gun – the Lord Marduk saga has already been amply trod by online investigators and I’m somewhat behind the trend.

The discussions have their own merit, of course:

Let me sum up the WHOLE argument. And just to save time, refer to www.infowars.com, ancient Sumerian texts, maybe a little David Icke (but not all, I don’t believe all he says), Stitchen, the bible, and Aaron Russo. All these people’s works have led me to this argument I am about to present.

-Long time ago before Sumeria, a planet collided with Earth.
-The ozone layer of that planet was damaged, and only gold particles (google “gold particles revive solar ozone layer”) could remedy the problem.
-The Annunaki (a reptilian race), far ahead in science, age, and technology, mined Earth fod Gold and created homo sapiens to be workers for the operation. Homo sapiens were a mix between ape and Annunaki.
-Planet was remedied.
-A small battle broke out over what to do with the newly created humans between Annunaki leadership.
-The leadership was equally divided, but at the end the decision was to keep humans as long as Annunaki leaders were kept in power.
-Hyrbids were created that had more alien blood than the rest, and were put into positions of power.
-It is believed that those same power bloodlines rule the world, and most secret socieites that control the globe derive their innate power and sense of power from this whole incident.
-The goal is to create a global police state, so that Earth can be brought back into a group of allied planets.
-This “antichrist” is just a figure head to make the planet a police state.
-RFID chips, or the mark of the beast, are said to be put in all.

Hope this helps

If half of what you just said in summary is true,
then a) I am fascinated and b) pretty scared for the future.

But more than anything else, I am inspired…

As a filmmaker, someday I would love to make a movie,
that, like the Matrix, exposes these fundamental facts
of our origins and present global power structure…

What an important- and entertaining- movie that will be.

I’ll be sure to give you a credit, Jaguar…

PS Seriously- whether a movie or a fictionalized book (sort of like DaVinci Code)
it has the makings of a natual page turner… has anyone expressed
these facts already in a book? I would love to read it…

PPS Who here had read- and recommends- BEHOLD A PALE HORSE? Thanx!

His Royal Highness Lord Marduk and Queen Nanshaazuur.

September 5, 2008

I wish I got more email like this. This arrived into my work inbox last month. The day I took my first step into a wider world.

Integrity In Journalism!

Those who bow down to editors when it comes to censoring the truth, should be aware of who they are really serving!

http://www.hismailroom.com/htmls/saalm/a.htm

One of the many odd things about the site is that all the text isn’t actually text at all but jpgs of text. It’s not for me to guess why the author decided on that method – maybe, like his tinfoil hat, it’s to stop the Freemasons scanning his or her thoughts.

Other highlights include these pictures:

Lord Enlil, apparently.

“P13″ and His Holiness Lord Nannuur, second in line to Anu-Na_ki royal lineage and Grand Architect and Patron of the 33rd Degree of Zion and S.A.A.L.M. (?)

With this post I hope to encourage others to step through the looking glass, as I did. No longer will I be blind to the machinations of S.A.A.L.M. and I can only be embarressed about not “waking up” sooner.

I also recommend the parent website, featuring ”the unfolding story of Revelation 12″ – including the unforgettable lines:

And they will see the very first wedding, ever in heaven, the wedding of My chosen daughter, Linda Newkirk the Woman of Revelation Twelve, to My Son!

Thereafter Linda Newkirk will begin her work as the Queen of Heaven, my Son’s very own queen; and as such will bear much power in Heaven and in the Earth!

Wheels within wheels within wheels. It’s what they didn’t tell you during Sunday school.

Back, back and forth and forth and back back…

September 4, 2008

We’re almost fully settled in Yeovil now, but circumstances continue to call us back to Bristol almost every weekend.

I’ve got no problem with that. It’s always nice to get back to my hometown and the train journey has got a lot less stressful since the end of festival season. Barack Obama’s “The Audacity of Hope” makes a very amiable travelling companion also.

One annoyance, however, is missing Adam and Joe’s brilliant show on BBC 6 Music on Saturday mornings from 9.00am – 12 midday.

I once wrote a mental letter to Adam after reading his blog and sensing (almost certainly incorrectly) that he was experiencing career worries.

But all is not lost! Speeding On The Needlebliss is an excellent site (in need of some Search Engine Optimisation – sheesh!) that has an archive of all their past shows, lovingly arranged into edited and unedited versions. I check it every week; the podcast just isn’t enough somehow.

Tomorrow: earth-shattering conspiracy news.

Travels with myself and another

July 1, 2008

In Yeovil, where I’ve started work as the Western Gazette’s newest reporter.

I’m on the newsdesk, tying up loose ends and covering holiday until they give me a patch of my own. What enormous satisfaction to be here. Everyone at the Gazette is supportive and friendly and I hope I’ll be able to do what they’re paying me to do to the very best of my ability, not least by way of thanks for giving me the job!

There’s so much to sort out, from tax to pensions to sofas and televisions. Thankfully, I’m in a reasonably comfortable hotel on Sherborne Road, where the editor has offered to put me up until I get all such details straightened out.

Apparently the ability to live out of a suitcase doesn’t run in the genes. There are several other business travelers here and conversation in the breakfast room is what you’d expect between those who feel too far away from home. I’m itching to get on with the real business of setting up a home of my own with Laura (we’ve found a nice flat just along the road from here, as it happens), but at the moment I’m at the whim of our prospective letting agent. The amount of referencing and arrangement and toing and froing they insist is required is intensely annoying.

Thank goodness I have George Orwell and Martha Gellhorn to ease my blood pressure. And Star Trek, of course.

A Farewell to Cardiff

June 8, 2008

With just two tricky exams remaining, nine sometimes difficult but very enjoyable months are coming to an end. I’m eager to get started (and earning), but I know I’ll miss Cardiff.

(That’s me, on the far left)

My classmates also saw fit to vote me Quirkiest Personality of the Year. Thanks guys (I think).

Father Christmas – the interview of the season

May 3, 2008

Shot for a one-day camera training course with the BBC’s Tony O’Shaughnessy, an interview with Cardiff’s Santa-in-residence for 2007.

Tim Sculthorpe did the filming and that’s me putting the questions and holding the mic.

The background music, which rather lends an air of mourning to the whole affair, wasn’t intentional. 50p only covered the band for one song.

“Santa” not only stayed in character but insisted on referring to himself in the third person throughout. The introductory conversation went something like:

Santa: “Who has come to visit Santa?”

Me: “Hi… Santa. We’re two students from the Journalism School. Is it alright if we ask you some questions on camera? It shouldn’t take up too much of your time.”

Santa: “How much are you going to pay Santa?”

Me: “Nothing.”

Santa: “Shit.”

FIRE DEATH DAD FOUND HANGED (splash and DPS) – Western Daily Press

May 3, 2008

This is my first splash outside of CJS and I’m proud of it. Thanks to happy chance, I ended up being the only reporter on the scene for the Western Daily Press as details emerged on April 25.

In truth, I was close to feeling in over my head at points. The unwritten rules of police cordons take some getting used to.

I think I did a good job for the paper in the end and the editors seemed to agree. I wouldn’t hestitate to jump on a story like this in the future.

The Myvillage podcast

May 3, 2008

I’m an amateur music producer (emphasis on the “amateur”) and the skills I’ve picked up over the years allowed me to produce this pilot podcast in 2006 for my then-employers, myvillage.com.

Running a podcast was my idea. I regularly download several, including the Media Guardian podcast and What’s Happening in Tokyo? (the best one I’ve yet come across). I figured it was a cheap (well, free) way to strengthen our community and affirm our new media savvy.

(click on ‘play’ to hear the podcast.)

I’m not an enormous fan of the sound of my own voice and there are places where I feel it could be slicker but, overall, I feel it stands up. I like the interview with Seb Fontaine, which took a fair bit of tweaking in a wave editor to get my incidental “mmmm”s and “yup”s out.

Despite my protestations it was never webcast. In my own opinion it compares favourably with many other podcasts floating around on the internet and I’m sure that given room to breathe and, perhaps, a new presenter, the format could have made a credible series. But there we are!

To create this I used CoolEdit Pro, Acid Pro, a cheapy microphone and a rushed afternoon.

A new chapter (digital storytelling)

May 3, 2008

I tried my hand at digital storytelling recently and although the results aren’t perfect I think I got a feel for it. It was made for Hwyl TV, online offshoot of one of the titles we produce during production days here at Cardiff Journalism School.

You can see the video below – it’s quite short. It concerns the major refit of the Chapter Arts centre in Canton, Cardiff, which is starting to happen as I write. For the record, I used a 3mp digital camcorder and iMovie.

* The video doesn’t seem to load properly at the time of posting! Hopefully YouTube will be gracious enough to restore it ASAP. UPDATE — it’s working now.

St. George’s Day (DPS) – Evening Post

Double page feature published in the Bristol Evening Post for St. George’s Day.

The 20-header vox pop was a challenge, not least because of frostbite. I may be exaggerating a little bit.

27 x 2 = 52, apparently

May 3, 2008

Despite my best hopes and efforts, the camera experiment didn’t get into the Bristol Evening Post, where I have been on placement this week. Well, not exactly in the way I wanted it to.

Then again, I have my very own jaunty theme music to cheer me up. Who could ask for more than that?

From BBC Points West in Bristol, aired April 16.
